Mark Rutledge | Cinematographer

Mark Rutledge has been behind a camera since he was eight years old. He considers himself fortunate that his work is also his passion.  Mark's first love was the still image, and after receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas, he entered the world of fine art and commercial still photography with clients such as American Airlines and General Electric.

As a recent graduate, he moved to New York City to paint. He soon bought a used 35mm rangefinder and fell in love with street photography. His intention was not to become a well-respected and sought-after cinematographer, but he was asked to shoot promotional stills for an indie movie and based on that work he was asked to be the Director of Photography for the film.

Since 1998, Mark has increasingly turned his talents to motion pictures. He has travelled to Zambia, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Iraq, Canada and 16 states across the country to follow his passion.

He has employed his unique style and vision as the Director of Photography on 15 feature films, working with some of the greatest talents in Hollywood including The Hit List and One in the Chamber starring Academy Award® Winner Cuba Gooding Jr., Academy Award® Nominee Tom Berenger, Kim Coates, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren

In-between feature films and international travel Mark works with commercial clients on both still and video shoots. His work can be seen in branding pieces for the Southland Corporation, General Electric, Southwest Airlines, Bridgestone Tires, Children's Medical, Lenscrafters, Heineken, Sylvan Learning Center, Big Lots, Game Stop, Talbots, Service King and Texas Capital Bank.

Based in Dallas, Texas he nevertheless travels the world for his work.
